This course examines comparative international experiences to better understand the challenges related with health insurance, financing and delivery of health care services, access, and cost of health services and pharmaceuticals in OECD countries.

As the climate changes, many regions of the world are experiencing aridification. Aquifers are being depleted. Surface water is increasingly polluted and in coastal areas, saltwater intrusion threatens fresh water supplies. Water insecurity is a threat multiplier. As social-ecological systems adapt, existing social inequalities will intensify. Where there is inadequate sanitation infrastructure, waterborne disease proliferates. Indigenous nations are disproportionately impacted. Women and girls who are responsible for supplying water for their household face additional stressors.

This independent study involves working with a faculty member as an Undergraduate Course Assistant (UCA) for a Public Health Sciences course. UCAs attend class sessions, assist with development and administration of course materials and activities, and support student learning and engagement.
