Mentored Turkish for Turkish Speakers I is designed for students who already have advanced proficiency in spoken Turkish, but want to learn to read and write in the language. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Turkish develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Turkey and to support course work in Middle Eastern Studies.

Hindi for Hindi-Urdu Speakers I is for advanced speakers of Hindi or Urdu who want to learn to read and write in Hindi. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes individual tutorials. A placement interview is required. The course includes a complete review of Hindi grammar and structure. By the end of the course, students should be able to read in Hindi and be able to compose simple texts such as dialogues and paragraphs in Hindi.

Haitian Creole for Heritage Speakers I is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Haitian Creole develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Haiti and to support course work in Caribbean and/or Francophone Studies. This course is an entry-level course for students who already have some basic speaking skills in Haitian Creole.

Topics in Advanced Urdu I focuses on developing advanced reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics are chosen in consultation with the program director. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Urdu develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Pakistan or India and to support course work in South Asian Studies.
