Adv Swahili/Human Rights Study

This is a course in advanced Swahili speaking, listening, reading and writing. The content of the course focuses on human rights policies in East African countries. Students develop skills in describing and narrating in detail, expressing opinions, giving reasons for opinions, and cross-cultural communication. Students develop vocabulary necessary to discuss economic, political, and social-cultural topics in Swahili.

Topics in Advanced Turkish V

Topics in Advanced Turkish V focuses on developing advanced reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics are chosen in consultation with the program director. Students studying Turkish develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Turkey and to support course work in Middle Eastern Studies.

Global Climate Change

This course seeks to answer the following questions: What do we know about past climate and how do we know it? What causes climate to change? What have been the results of relatively recent climate change on human populations? What is happening today? What is likely to happen in the future? What choices do we have?
