Pashto I

Pashto I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Pashto. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Pashto develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Afghanistan or Pakistan and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

Persian I

Persian I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Persian. The course teaches Iranian Persian (Farsi). It is also useful for students who want to learn Dari (Persian as spoken in Afghanistan) or Tajik (Persian as spoken in Tajikistan). The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials.

Norwegian I

Norwegian I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Norwegian. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Norwegian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Norway and to support course work in European Studies and Scandinavian Studies.

Nepali I

Hindi I

Hindi I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Hindi. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. Students studying Hindi develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in India and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

Modern Tibetan I

Modern Tibetan I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Modern Tibetan. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Modern Tibetan develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Tibet or Tibetan-speaking areas and to support course work in Asian Studies or Buddhist Studies.

Mongolian I

Students studying Modern Irish develop speaking and listening skills useful for study abroad in Ireland and to support course work in Celtic Studies.

Modern Greek I
