This course explores the underlying representations and processes of adult cognition. The history of cognitive psychology, concepts and categories, memory, judgement and decision-making, problem solving, language. Includes an introduction to models of cognition.

This advanced seminar course will introduce students to theories and research focused on the development of intergroup cognition across childhood, with a particular emphasis on exploring how research in developmental science can be used to reduce race-based stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination.

Principles of pharmacology, behavioral testing, brain structure and neuron morphology, neurochemistry, mode and site of action of antianxiety and antipsychotic drugs, analgesics, hypnotics, sedatives, and anesthetics. Recreational drugs such as tobacco, alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines, discussed. Prerequisite: introductory psychology. Some chemistry recommended.
