Yoruba VI

Yoruba VI is an intermediate-advanced course in Yoruba offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Yoruba develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ghana and engagement with Yoruba-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Turkish VI

Turkish VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Turkish offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Turkish develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Turkey and engagement with Turkish-speaking communities, and to support course work in Middle Eastern Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Thai VI

Thai VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Thai offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Thai develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Thailand and engagement with Thai-speaking communities, and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Swahili VI

Swahili VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Swahili (Kiswahili) offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Swahili develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in East Africa (especially Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda) and engagement with Swahili-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Romanian VI

Romanian VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Romanian offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Romanian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Romania or the Republic of Moldova and engagement with Romanian-speaking communities, and to support course work in European Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Norwegian VI

Norwegian VI is an intermediate course in Norwegian offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Norwegian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Norway and engagement with Norwegian-speaking communities, and to support course work in Scandinavian and European Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Nepali VI

Nepali VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Nepali offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Nepali develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Nepal and engagement with Nepali-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Hindi VI

Students studying Hindi develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in India and engagement with Hindi-speaking communities, and to support course work in South Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Modern Tibetan VI

Modern Tibetan VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Tibetan offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. Modern Irish VI

Modern Irish VI is an intermediate course in Modern Irish (also known as Irish Gaelic) offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Irish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ireland and engagement with Irish-speaking communities, and to support course work in Celtic Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.
