Modern Tibetan I

Modern Tibetan I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Tibetan offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Tibetan develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Tibet, India, and Nepal and engagement with Tibetan-speaking communities, and to support course work in South Asian and Buddhist Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Mongolian I

Mongolian I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Mongolian. The course is offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Mongolian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Mongolia and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Malay I

Malay I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Malay offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Malay develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Malaysia and engagement with Malay-speaking communities, and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Irish I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Modern Irish (also known as Irish Gaelic) offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Irish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ireland and engagement with Irish-speaking communities, and to support course work in Celtic Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.
