System Defense and Test

This class trains students to detect and analyze weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems as a method of assessing the security of a system. We focus on tools and techniques that an attacker would employ but from the perspective of an ethical system administrator. Topics include tools and techniques for penetration testing and attacks, information gathering, social engineering, and defenses.

Research Methods Social Psych

This course serves as a graduate-level introduction to the scientific methods and practical aspects of conducting research in social and personality psychology. Emphasis is placed on the development of such skills as experimental design, construction of reliable and valid measurement procedures, critical analysis of research literature, and effective writing of empirical papers.

Irish Gothic

In this seminar, we will study the gothic as a malleable yet persistent discursive site in Irish literary and political tradition. From the eighteenth century to the present, the gothic has been used to represent and to imagine aspects of Irish history, in particular colonialism and its traumas, in literature. The course focuses on the ways that the Irish gothic explores violence and terror, famine, and vampirism as a political metaphor.

The course will focus on texts that engage with three primary problems that the Irish gothic is used to explore: violence and terror, famine, and vampirism as a political metaphor.

Composition and Culture

Emphasis on written expression in Spanish through frequent assignments emphasizing difficult grammatical structures or idiomatic usages, sentence and paragraph structure, making smooth transitions, writing the short essay, writing descriptions, engaging in personal or business correspondence, analyzing texts, doing library research, and drafting and completing research papers. Students will comment on each other's work in the classroom and/or via the use of email or Web sites and will practice techniques of self-editing and self-criticism.

ST- Adv Manufacturing/Polymers

Covers fundamental topics in advanced manufacturing processes. Includes polymer extrusion, thermoforming, polymer-on-polymer stamping, injection molding, 3D printing, micro and nanomanufacturing. Emphasizes on fundamental principles of polymer manufacturing processes, selection of materials relative to product design and manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability. Explores recent advances in polymer manufacturing from macro to nano scale.

ST-Programing & Data Analysis

This course provides an introduction to processing, visualizing, and interpreting quantitative Earth and environmental science data using scientific computing techniques widely used in the Earth sciences. Computational methods and visualization will be performed using the scientific computing language, python. The course will teach you the basics of computer programing.
