ST- Global Political Thought

This lecture course is an introduction to studying political thought and political theory in a global, transnational, comparative way. The core problems are both what it means to study the normative and ideological dimensions of politics across the divides of distinct traditions and also what is involved in treating the entire globe as the proper scope for political thought.

ST-A. Frank,Hillesum, Hollland

Anne Frank is a seminal Holocaust voice. We will read not only her diary, but also her many essays, short stories, and the five chapters of the novel she never completed. So, too, will we read the diary and letters of Etty Hillesum, whose slightly older and equally crucial Holocaust voice was silenced in Auschwitz. Both women's lives and work will be examined against the backdrop of the Nazi invasion of Holland and the Dutch response, both rescue efforts and collaboration.
