Levantine Arabic IV is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Jordanian, Lebanese, Palestinian, and Syrian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Levantine Arabic III or the equivalent and be ready to work on advanced level speaking and listening skills.

An advanced course focused on development of reading and speaking skills, expanded vocabulary, and the ability to describe/narrate in detail, state opinions, and support opinions. Topics chosen in consultation with the program director.

Vietnamese for Heritage Speakers II is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. Students studying Vietnamese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Vietnam and to support course work in Asian Studies.

Afrikaans IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Afrikaans. Amharic V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Amharic. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and to support course work in African Studies.

Students studying Modern Tibetan develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Tibet or Tibetan-speaking areas and to support course work in Asian Studies or Buddhist Studies.
