This course will cover questions about the place of mind in a world of matter; the nature of free will, and whether it is so much as possible; a variety of questions about knowledge, including self-knowledge; and a number of moral questions, including questions about our responsibility to others less fortunate than ourselves. Readings will be primarily from contemporary philosophers. (Gen.Ed. AL)

We will read and discuss classic writings from the history of analytic philosophy. Topics covered include philosophy of language, metaphysics, epistemology, and philosophy of mind. Authors include Frege, Russell, Wittgenstein, Ayer, Carnap, Quine, Kripke, and Lewis.

This course explores the family as a gendered social construction. It considers how the family reflects and reproduces gender roles that are woven into the social norms of our society.

This course explores the migration and settlement of Jews within Europe, Africa, and the Americas from the period of expulsions and forced conversion to Christianity in Europe (fourteenth-sixteenth centuries) to the present day. Special attention will be given to identity; social and religious institutions; regional variations; poverty; intergroup relations; the impact of the slave trade and slave societies; immigration waves; gendered experiences; and the shift from a regime based on legal restrictions and privileges to modern societies based on inalienable rights. This course addresses the principles and practices of public relations and strategic communication in the public, private, for-profit and no-profit arenas. Course includes lectures, readings, multimedia viewings and student-engaged, collaborative and classroom and online learning methods.

The goal of this course is to provide both intellectual and historical understanding of how U.S. financial markets and Federal Reserve came to exist in their current shape and form. The course will be structured by time period, with most time and emphasis placed on the most recent hundred years, and especially the past five decades. How current financial institutions behave and influence the American society will be covered in detail.

Game Programming introduces students to concepts of computer game development, including 2D and 3D modeling, character design, animation, game art, basic game AI, audio and video effects. The course will help students build the programming skills needed to turn ideas into games. Both runtime systems and the asset pipelines will be covered. Students will work on various game programming exercises with modern game engines and graphics APIs. This course counts as a CS Elective toward the CS major (BA or BS).
