T-Urban Spaces/Film

From Paris to Fort-de-France, Montreal to Dakar, this class studies how various filmmakers from the Francophone world present urban spaces as sites of conflict, solidarity, alienation and self-discovery. How do these portraits confirm or challenge the distinction between urban and non-urban? How does the image of the city shift for “insiders” and “outsiders”? Other topics to be discussed include immigration, colonialism and globalization. Works by Sembène Ousmane, Denys Arcand, Mweze Ngangura and Euzhan Palcy. Course taught in French.

Business Policy and Strategy

This course is designed to be highly integrative in that students use knowledge and tools from all functional areas of business to develop a "whole organization" perspective. In addition, they integrate by examining these functions within the context of business and societal environments, such as the competitive, political/legal, socio-cultural, technological, and economic. Furthermore, they integrate and further develop general education knowledge and skills, such as written and oral communications in each course assignment.

Flight Mechanics

This course surveys topics and classical problems in flight mechanics that are relevant to aerospace, including applications in both air and space. There are numerous technical considerations in the design of aircraft to facilitate prolonged flight. This course focuses on three topics: airfoil and wing design, elements of airplane performance, and mechanical components necessary for propulsion. Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of flight including atmospheric constraints and the basics of aerodynamics.
