Intro/Stat w/Impact Mindset

This course introduces students to statistical software and visualization methods in the context of applications with high social impact. It is designed for students with limited or no background in statistics, who might be interested in learning more about statistics before deciding about future study. It is vertically-integrated to also show students the potential of more advanced statistical methods.

Business Communication

This course is designed to help students meet the demand for effective writing and speaking skills in the professional workplace. Topics include rhetorical considerations involving audience and purpose, writing style and tone, organizational strategies, research skills, evidence-based writing, and page design, along with assignments in professional correspondence, report writing, and public speaking and visual aids. This course satisfies the University's junior year writing requirement.

Music, Computers, and AI

This course explores the confluence of music and artificial intelligence. We will dive into the evolution of music AI, from its historical roots to contemporary innovations innovations. The approach will cut across disciplines, with students being introduced to the basic architectures of computational models like Hidden Markov Models and Generative Pretrained Transformers, while also reading commentaries about ways that these machines challenge our notions of artistry and creativity.

The workings of the American judicial system within context of the larger political system. How demands are processed by trial and appellate courts; who uses courts and why; who judges are and how they get their jobs; why judges decide cases the way they do; the impact of court decisions.
