Various forms of psychopathology, including anxiety, stress, affective, addictive, developmental, psychosexual, personality, and schizophrenic disorders. The major theoretical perspectives on psychopathology reviewed. Various approaches to treatment.

ST- Wellness Programming

Introduction to the development, implementation, and evaluation of health/fitness and wellness programs. Topics include program development; the legal aspects of health/fitness and wellness promotion; program evaluation; marketing and promotion of fitness and wellness programs. The lab component of this course involves working two hours per week in the department's fitness/wellness center (schedule arranged once class begins).

Physics Of Music

Waves, the production and perception of sound, the physical basis of pitch, timbre, resonance, dissonance, and musical scales. Concepts applied to orchestral instruments and auditorium acoustics. Fundamentals of electronic sound reproduction and recording. Elementary algebra and powers of ten notation used. (Gen.Ed. PS)

Social Movements

Explores how and why social movements occur, what strategies they use, how they create collective identities, how issues such as civil rights, workers' rights, women's rights, the environment, the global economy mobilize activists' participation within the circumstances faced.

ST-Race & Representation

Despite the gains of the last half-century, most Americans still live, work, and go to school in quite segregated conditions. For many, media stories and images are thus our primary encounters with people of different ethnic backgrounds. While race itself is a mythic social construction, the effects of our racial imaginings are all too real. In this course we will explore the history of racial representation in the U.S., ranging from the colonial period to the age of Obama.

Multicul Group Proc

Develops a theoretical and skill foundation for working with diverse groups in educational and work settings. Explores theories of intergroup relations, group development, and leadership that facilitate understanding of intergroup biases and conflict, multicultural dynamics in diverse groups, and conflict and cooperation in group life.
