Major theories of human development. Emphasis on psychological theories and concepts. Relevance and relationship of biological, social, and anthropological concepts.

Designed for LLC doctoral students, this integrative seminar will explore current perspectives on the nature of writing as a sociocultural and political activity and implications for teaching, learning, research, and social change. Drawing on a variety of fields of study, this course will emphasize issues of identity, access, and marginalization, and will involve participants in writing and reading across a wide range of "academic" and "nonacademic" genres.

Mechatronics as the synergistic integration of mechanical design, electronics design, controls, and embedded programming throughout the product and process design, with the aim to optimize the final design output. Mechatronic product design, with a focus on integrating the various engineering disciplines into electromechanical systems. Students work in teams on mechatronic design projects using a microcontroller development system.
