Survey of AfricanAmerican literature of the 1920s: fiction, poetry, essays, folklore. Through the eyes and ideas of the writers, time, place, and socio historical and political contexts of 1920s revealed. Rather than working from a singular movement approach, emphasis in this course is placed on understanding the dynamic relationship of both dance and yoga from multiple perspectives. We will explore how these two practices reflect, inform, and enhance each other through their anatomical/energetic organization and alignment strategies, movement logic and sequencing, and embodied awareness in motion and stillness.
