This course will introduce graduate students to landmark papers in Behavioral Neuroscience. Each week, a student will discuss a landmark journal article in the field. They will put the paper in historical perspective by answering the following questions: What led to the publication? Was it accepted by the field, or was it rejected, because it contradicted dogma? Did it result in a paradigm shift? What came next? How did it change the development of the discipline? Although there will be no final exam, there will be a term paper.

S-Sheltered English Immersion

This course introduces and assesses the 11 Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Standards fulfilling the SEI Endorsement requirement for teacher licensure in Massachusetts. Course content prepares PK-12 preservice teachers with the theoretical, cultural, political, linguistic, and instructional tools for effectively promoting the language development of English language learners.

International Management

Internationalizing activities including: trade concepts and issues, types of relationship, and specific forms of organization and operation; current issues and situations in the international arena and their impact on business activities; current transitions from international to global business conditions. Alternative views and differences fostered replicating actual intercultural relations. New views on how international business may help reduce the economic gap between poor and rich nations.

Computational Physic

Computational physics in a computer laboratory setting. Numerical simulations of a variety of physical systems taught concurrently with programming skills using languages such as C, Mathematica or Matlab in a UNIX environment. No prior computer experience required. Prerequisites: PHYSICS 181 or 151, and MATH 132. Corequisite: PHYSICS 182 or 152.

Conversatnl Port I

Discussion, based on varied topics of current interest and from modern Portuguese and Brazilian writers to develop good speaking ability in Portuguese. Conversations center on everyday life situations. Intended to expand fluency, vocabulary, and cultural awareness.
