Business Data Visualization

This course focuses on the use of business tools to visualize data and create reports to aid in business decisions, advance arguments with data, and distill analyses for consumption by non-analysts. This course assumes knowledge from OIM 350 including SQL query construction and basic Tableau and Excel usage. Students will extend their knowledge of Tableau for visualization and dashboard creation, as well as alternative software solutions including Microsoft PowerBI. This course focuses on experiential, hands-on learning in a group setting.

Business Intelligence requires foundation knowledge in data models and data retrieval, thus this course will review logical data models for both relational database systems and data warehouses. Students will learn to extract and manipulate data from these systems using Structured Query Language (SQL).

AI in Business

This course is designed for business major students aspiring to develop a deeper understanding of artificial intelligence and its use in business applications. The course will provide an introductory overview of different mathematical and computational data analysis tools and machine learning techniques commonly used in artificial intelligence. Focus will be on case studies and applications that demonstrate how artificial intelligence can augment current business operations.
