ST-Readings Modern Japanese I

Readings in Japanese from a variety of contemporary sources, including short fiction, plays, newspapers, magazines, and electronic media. This course will focus on reading for comprehension with attention to the acquisition of greater kanji and vocabulary recognition skills, mastery of grammatical structures of written Japanese, and the development of familiarity with Japanese cultural concepts.

Object-Oriented Programming

This course will expose students to programming practices beyond the introductory level, concentrating on Object Oriented Programming techniques and an introduction to Data Structures. Students will also study and analyze the complexity of both the algorithms presented in class and of the algorithms they develop. This course also provides experience with the development and analysis of recursive algorithms and programs.

Honors Research

E&C ENG 499Y is Part 1 of the senior honors thesis or project in ECE, to be followed in the spring by Part 2 (E&C ENG 499T for thesis or ECE 499P for project). Individual student research is directly contracted with the faculty chairs who supervise the work. In addition, all 499Y students participate in a common thesis/project seminar that addresses research-related communication and other aspects of the research process in a seminar/workshop format.
