Honors Project

Honors Project expectations are high. The intended end-product is a traditional project manuscript with accompanying artifact(s), all projects: - are 6 credits or more of sustained research on a single topic, typically conducted over two semesters. - begin with creative inquiry and systematic research. - include documentation of substantive scholarly endeavor. - culminate in an oral defense or other form of public presentation.

Practicum

Students in junior or senior year, with faculty sponsorship, may elect to complete a portion of their credit requirements with an internship/study experience coordinated through the Career Center.

Hnr Indstu In Envsci

This is a stand-alone independent study designed by the student and faculty sponsor that involves frequent interaction between instructor and student. Qualitative and quantitative enrichment must be evident on the proposed contract before consent is given to undertake the study.

S- Jump Starting Your Career

This seminar meets weekly for one hour and is intended for ENVSCI seniors who want to jump-start their entry into a career by honing their resumes, developing an elevator pitch that clearly and succinctly communicates their "personal brand," participating in mock interviews, and utilizing advanced functions in LinkedIn and USAJobs to search out and apply for potential career positions post-graduation.

Principles Envir Site Assessmt

Training in the ASTM method for detecting recognized indicators of petroleum and hazardous material contamination at properties of concern to local communities. Phase I and II techniques including record file research, site reconnaissance, and subsurface investigations. Information obtained on project sites assembled into Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Reports for submission to interested municipalities. Prerequisites: BIOLOGY 151, CHEM 111, or equivalents.
