The goal of this seminar is to provide education on current research on adoption and diverse family types. Students are required to participate in class discussions in which they will discuss issues and subjects relevant to the adoption literature. There is a required practicum component to this seminar in which students will serve as mentors to adopted children in the Adoption Mentoring Partnership.

This course introduces students to how the Supreme Court works as a legal institution, by examining landmark civil liberties decisions of the Court within their political and historical contexts. As an Integrative Experience course, this course also connects knowledge and skills from multiple sources, helps build oral communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills, and strengthens students' analytical understanding of how the Supreme Court works. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-POLSCI majors.

This course will build on the fundamentals of the introductory audio journalism course, allowing students to report multiple in-depth, long-form journalistic and documentary audio projects. Emphasis will be placed on producing professional-quality work along with strategies for successfully placing that work with a paid journalistic outlet.

Over the past year few years, a powerful social movement has emerged to affirm to the country and world that Black Lives Matter. Sparked by the killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in Stanford, Florida, and Zimmerman's acquittal as well as the police killings of other black men and women, including Michael Brown, Rekia Boyd, and Freddie Gray, this movement challenges police violence and other policing that makes black communities unsafe as well as social constructions of black people as inherently dangerous and criminal.
