S- Rules of War

This course evaluates the role of international ethical norms in regulating the practice of organized political violence. We will begin by considering how to think analytically about the effects of ethical norms on international policy-making. We next consider the origins and evolving dynamics of the laws of war, explore why political actors so often violate these rules and the conditions under which they follow them, and examine the political and ethical dilemmas involved in enforcing them.

Advanced Scientific German I

In this course, students will focus on technical and scientific German to expand their proficiency in the German language at the advanced level. Students engage with a variety of large-scale engineering projects in German-speaking countries, and explore the German perspective on environmental problems (water and air pollution; climate change; renewable energies, and many more), as well as some of the cutting-edge research in German-speaking countries.

This class uses research, analysis and discussion of cases and campaigns to expose students to the professional practice of public relations and integrated communication management. Students will learn how to identify, explain and apply what they?ve learned to different publics/stakeholders as well as communication and business scenarios.

ST- Stochastic Calculus

We first review some basic probability and useful tools, including random walk, Law of large numbers and central limit theorem. Conditional expectation and martingales. The topics of the course include the theory of stochastic differential equations oriented towards topics useful in applications, such as Brownian motion, stochastic integrals, and diffusion as solutions of stochastic differential equations.

ST-Ethnic&ReligiousConflict/Mi

This course aims to acquaint the students with an historical background of the ethnic and religious conflicts in the Modern Middle East during the last century to the present. This course will give specific attention to the defining features of inter and intra-territorial conflicts exist in the region with a focus on the underlying dynamics of continuity and change present in the region in line with contemporary international politics.
