3D Modeling & Simulation

This course will teach students advanced algorithms and techniques for three-dimensional modeling, animation and physically based simulation. There are no prerequisites for CMPSCI grad students, although familiarity with computer graphics, linear algebra, and differential equations is important. For undergrads, the course has the following prerequisites: Computer Graphics (CMPSCI 473, mark of A- or higher), Introduction to Linear Algebra (Math 235, mark of A- or higher), and Ordinary Differential Equations (Math 331, mark of B or higher).

Forest Tree & Shrub Identifctn

Field based instruction in plant identification - chiefly of trees and shrubs native to New England. Ecological requirements of species important for timber, wildlife and/or biodiversity considerations. Field trips to state and University forests/wildlife management areas to learn to recognize plants where they grow naturally on the landscape.

Representing the Holocaust

Major writers, works, themes, and critical issues comprising the literature of the Holocaust. Exploration of the narrative responses to the destruction of European Jewry and other peoples during World War II (including diaries, memoirs, fiction, poetry, drama, video testimonies, and memorials).
