An in-depth case-study analysis of the law as it applies to the professional team sports industry. Emphasis on contracts, labor law, antitrust law, collective bargaining, negotiations, arbitration, and representation of the professional athlete. Prerequisite: SPORTMGT 335.

Few questions in American history remain as contentious as the meaning of the 1960s. Observers agree that it was a very important time, but they are deeply divided as to whether it ushered in a needed series of social changes, or whether the Sixties were a period marked mainly by excess, chaos, and self-indulgence. There is not even agreement about when the Sixties began and ended. This course will build on the concept of the ?Long Sixties,? a period stretching from roughly 1954 to 1975.

The module will examine the key contributions to sport law literature. Themes of the literature include: historical development of the application of legal concepts to the sport industry; changing legal landscape of application of law to spectator sport industry; and emerging trends.

Classroom readings, lectures, and discussion will focus on providing students with a better understanding of marketing and consumer behavior in the sport context.

Contemporary investment strategies; emphasis on the theoretical. Major topics: portfolio analysis and random walk.

Financial institutions, instruments, markets and the public policies; micro and macro aspects of the American financial system.

Examines current threats to the sustainability of the global economy, the environmental and social impacts of current business practices, and how both governmental regulations and for profit business initiatives are needed to address these issues.
