Engineering leaders are called upon to fill a variety of roles in organizations from evaluating new technologies, managing people and projects, to communicating complex ideas up, down, and across organizations. This course prepares engineers to be leaders in organizations of various sizes by simulating the planning, decision-making, and communication needed to take an idea from germination to execution and delivery, scaling a team from a few people to a ~200 person organization.

Special Topics in Asian Art

This course surveys the art of China's modern age, beginning in the mid-nineteenth century with the treaty port cultures following the second Opium War in 1860, and ending with the 2008 Olympics. Topics include urban print cultures, modern ink painting, Sino-Japanese exchanges, arts institutions, popular and mass culture, socialist state art, experimental art and exhibitions in the Reform era, and art of the diaspora.

ST-Adv Korean through History

In this course, students will learn advanced level Korean through modern Korean history. Students will achieve deeper understanding of Korean culture and society through a lens of history. Students will read the main course material in Korean and discuss major events and the meanings of them in the Korean historical context. Students will also read reference materials in both English and Korean to gain a deeper understanding of the historical events.

Modern Latin America

Lecture and discussion course examining the creation of modern Latin America, concentrating on the struggles over land and labor, the creation of nation-states, and the conflicts within those states over issues of citizenship and social justice. The course also addresses the contentious role the United States has played in the region. (Gen.Ed. HS, G)
